A night of new talents and community spirit
We recently held our annual Beds Band Factory event in partnership with Music for Bedford Borough. It was a fantastic evening with students from schools across Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough performing the songs they had been rehearsing.
This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to share the genres they are passionate about, spending their break times, lunchtimes, and after-school hours rehearsing with the support of dedicated school staff. For many (aged between 11 and 14), it was their first time performing on a proper stage, complete with dry ice and fantastic lighting. Though they were initially nervous, by the evening they were all rocking out like pros!
The event is special for many reasons, from the performers making new friends across different schools, to performing in front of proud family and friends. It also serves as a networking opportunity for teachers from across the area. The sixth formers at Redborne made the event professional with their support for performers on stage, lighting, and sound engineering, all orchestrated by Jonathan Price, the Head of Music, adding to the performers' sense of professionalism.
The event was supported by TT Rockstars, who donated a £400 prize to the music department of the winning school, and Twinwood Festivals, which provided lots of free tickets to the audience. Big thanks to the local companies who showed strong support for our event.
It was fantastic to see every performer grow from nervously making their first sounds on stage to confidently rocking out in style. This will be an evening they will never forget, and events like these truly make a difference.
