Bedfordshire Battle of the Bands 2023
Key stage 4 and 5
This began over a decade ago, and it has organically grown and evolved since. We are very lucky to have Dave Probert as our highly entertaining compere, the founder of the original event, for this competition that is performed annually in The Stables theatre in Milton Keynes.
The event has been sponsored by many famous music label names, including Kawai, Yamaha and Korg however these past few years we have been very fortunate to be sponsored by Marshall Amps, in particular the Marshall Studio in Bletchley.
The winning prize was donated by Marshall Studio – a days recording in their brand new facility.
The competition was judged by an audio engineer who not only works in the studio, but had previously graced the stage for this competition some years before. TT Rockstars, Twinwood Festival and Rock Hard Music also sponsored the event.
As with many things musical there was a COVID related hiatus in 2020-2021 however in 2022 there was a pre-recorded event that is available to watch online. The live event came back with a vengeance in 2023 though, with a fully seated auditorium engaged in a live performance. Nine bands collectively competed from Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Bedford College, performing two songs per band. The winners of the 2023 Battle of the Bands was Redborne Upper School, we were so impressed by “Jam” who performed two original songs, sung with beautiful harmonies.
